Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐
The Sengled Zigbee LED light strips are some of the most reliable and vibrant lights I’ve used. They pair instantly with Home Assistant, offer excellent brightness and color, and never miss a beat when used with extensions. The only downside is the cost, you don’t get a lot of length for the price, and scaling up gets expensive fast.
What Are These Light Strips?
Sengled’s Zigbee-enabled smart LED light strips are flexible RGB strips that connect through a Zigbee hub or coordinator (like SmartThings or Home Assistant). The standard kit includes a 6.6-foot strip with a power adapter and Zigbee controller. You can expand it using 3.3-foot extension strips, which plug directly into the main segment.
These strips support millions of colors, adjustable brightness, and full Zigbee local control, making them a favorite for setups that prioritize speed and reliability without relying on the cloud.
It’s important to note that these lights do have a Wi-Fi-based & Bluetooth version as well. I have not used them but I’d imagine the connectivity is just as good as the Zigbee version. What’s the difference between them all? The Zigbee ones have significantly less length to them compared to the other two.
- Sengled Zigbee LED Strip: 6.6 foot Strip
- Sengled Wi-Fi LED Strip: 16.4 foot strip
- Sengled Bluetooth LED Strip: 16.4 foot strip
So like any company, Sengled really takes advantage of users who are against cloud-based smart home products.
Sengled LED Strip Setup Experience
The setup was simple. The lights came rolled up like a typical LED strip, and the Zigbee controller was built into a small piece that connects between the power supply and the strip itself. I used a Zigbee USB stick with Home Assistant, and pairing was instant.
Zero headaches.
Since then, I haven’t had a single issue. The lights have stayed connected for over four months with no drops, glitches, or weird behavior.
Sengled LED Strip Light Performance in Daily Use
These strips are easily one of the most reliable pieces of my smart home setup. They’re fast, responsive, and the colors are bright and accurate. Whether I’m using them for subtle under-cabinet lighting or a full-blown evening scene, they deliver.
What really stands out is how seamless the extension pieces are. Once added, there’s no visual break or delay, it feels like one solid strip. The brightness is consistent, and transitions between scenes happen instantly.

What Could Be Better About The Sengled LED Strip Lights

Final Thoughts: Should You Buy It?
If you’re building a local Zigbee smart home and want smart light strips that just work, the Sengled Zigbee LED strips are hard to beat. They’re bright, colorful, easy to control, and don’t suffer from lag or flaky behavior, even with extensions.
The only thing holding them back is the price. For large installs, you’ll need to buy several kits and extensions, which adds up fast. But for smaller areas or setups where reliability matters more than price, these are a fantastic option.
